Ball Tournament
Welcome to the basketball page designed for the the real ball players of the
world, the playground players. I'll
be sharing some of my views on the best game ever invented and I'll tell
you why I love the game, but hate some things about the NBA.
Playground
Legends? I've played with some of the legends of the N.J. and PA.
playgrounds. This is a page for them, as well as for the legends of
the future.
Get
out of your driveway and go to the playground. Why you will never be
a good player if you stay in your yard.

Kansas will be National
Champs!

(New Jersey, A.P.)
I know it's a little early, but let's face it, when it comes to who is
going to be National Champs this year, it is between the Dukies and
someone else. The question is, who is that someone else? Is it
going to be
Cincinnati? Nope.
Maryland?
Nope.
Florida?
Nope.
Gonzaga?
I wish. It is going to be
Kansas.
And Kansas will beat them. That's right, I said it first.
Kansas 2002 National Champions. Let me break it down for you
so you can see why...
#1. Coaching - All right, I know basketball
enough not too say that Roy Williams is a better coach than Coach K.
But he may be just as good.
#2. Centers - Drew Gooden vs. Carlos Boozer.
Gooden is a much better all-around player than Boozer. He can go
inside and outside plus he has more post moves. Boozer is stronger
but he tends to get into foul trouble and Duke has a short bench.
Advantage -Kansas.
#3. Power Forward - Nick Collison vs. Mike Dunleavy.
Dunleavy is the do-everything player. He is probably the best player
in the country if he was a small forward. But he isn't, and that
will hurt him against Kansas. Collison is big and physical, and can
hurt Dunleavy on the box. Dunleavy will get the best of Collison on
the perimeter but we all know championships are won in the trenches.
Advantage - Kansas (by a little).
#4. Small Forward - Wayne Simien (Fr) vs. Donhtay Jones.
Here we have two completely different types of players. Simien who
is 6'9" and a low post man against Jones a 6'6" swing man. Simien is
only a frosh so that worries me, but he is strong on the boards.
Jones has experience and is explosive, he is also playing very well of
late. It will be interesting to see what gives, inside play or
outside play. If Jones has a big night, Duke can also.
Advantage - Duke.
#5. Shooting Guard - Jeff Boschee vs. Jason Williams. No
doubt Williams is the best guard in the country but Boschee is pretty good
also. This will come down to who is hot and who is not. If
Williams has a 30 point night, it might be lights out for Kansas. If
Boschee lives up to expectations and shoot lights out, Kansas will be in
good shape. Advantage - Duke.
#6. Point Guard - Kirk Hinrich vs. Chris Duhon. When it
comes to intensity, Kirk Hinrich is in another league. He is the
hard-nosed, smart point guard that every team wants. He is third in
scoring on Kansas, and first in assists. Duhon is also another big
assist man who can do his share of scoring, but Hinrich is clearly the
better point guard. Advantage - Kansas
Overall (bench ect.) - Duke is not deep and Kansas is.
Especially at the big man positions where it is all won and lost.
Duke will have an advantage on the perimeter but Kansas will pound them
inside and get Boozer into foul trouble. Then it will be over for
Duke. Then I will be able to sleep at night knowing that Duke is not
the best team in the nation!
My 3 Teams to look for:
(posted 12-1-01)
1. Fresno State - You can't deny that The Shark has been
building a winner on the west coast. They made the tournament last
year so they have confidence and experience.
Plus, you never want to play Tarkanian in a big game.
2. Kansas - Yes they
have problems winning the big game, but they have the best front court in
the nation with Gooden and Collison.
3. USC - Henry Bibby
proved that he is a solid coach that teaches his team to play an exciting
and hard-nosed style of ball. The return of Sam Clancy ensures coach
Bibby of a successful season.
